Terms and Conditions

These Terms govern your use of the Rice mobile application and related services (the "Service"), provided by Ilia Zadiabin ("Rice", "we", "us"). You can contact us at [email protected]. By using Rice, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service.

1. Using Rice

Rice helps you identify ingredients, discover recipes, plan dinners, make shopping lists, save recipes and return to recent scans. Automated systems may analyze kitchen photos or ingredient text and match recipes from the Rice catalogue.

Some features require an internet connection, an account or an active subscription. Free features may have usage limits, which are shown in the app. Features and availability may vary by device, operating system and marketplace.

You must meet the minimum age required by the laws that apply to you and by your app marketplace. If you cannot legally agree to these Terms yourself, a parent or legal guardian must agree on your behalf and supervise your use.

2. Accounts and deletion

You can use parts of Rice without signing in. Signing in enables supported account features, including saving recipes. Keep access to your sign-in provider secure and contact us if you believe someone has accessed your Rice account without permission.

You may stop using Rice at any time. Signed-in users can delete their Rice account in Settings or request deletion through the account-deletion page. The Privacy Policy explains how account information and retained records are handled.

Deleting your account or uninstalling Rice does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it separately through the marketplace where you purchased it.

3. Subscriptions, billing and refunds

Rice may offer monthly or annual subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play. Before you purchase, the marketplace shows the price, billing period, renewal terms and any trial or introductory offer. Offer eligibility is determined by the marketplace.

Payment is charged through your marketplace account. An automatically renewing subscription continues until you cancel it under the marketplace's terms. If a trial converts to a paid subscription, cancel before the deadline shown when you accept the offer to avoid the next charge.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple or Google Play account. Cancellation generally stops future renewal and leaves access available for the remainder of the paid period, subject to the applicable offer and marketplace rules. Use Restore purchases in Rice where available with the marketplace account used for the purchase.

Refund requests and billing disputes are handled under the applicable marketplace policies and consumer law. Nothing in these Terms excludes a refund, withdrawal right or other remedy you are legally entitled to. Changes to subscription prices require the notice or consent required by the marketplace and applicable law.

4. Your photos and other content

You retain your rights in the photos, ingredient text and other material you submit. You must have permission to submit that material and must not upload unlawful content or information that infringes another person's rights.

You give Rice and its service providers permission to store, copy, transmit, resize and analyze your submitted material only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service, comply with law and handle it as described in the Privacy Policy. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to Rice.

5. Recipes, nutrition and food safety

Ingredient detection, recipe matches, quantities, cooking times, nutrition estimates and dietary classifications may be incomplete or inaccurate. Results are provided for general cooking information and are not medical, nutritional or allergy advice.

Check the original ingredient labels, allergens, dietary requirements and the condition of your food. You are responsible for safe storage, handling, cooking temperatures and doneness. Do not rely on a photo analysis or recipe label to establish that food is safe or free of allergens.

6. Permission to use the app and its content

Subject to these Terms and the applicable marketplace rules, you may use Rice for your personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control. Rice and its licensors retain their rights in the app, branding and other protected content. Recipes and images may belong to their respective owners; displaying them in Rice does not transfer those rights to you.

You must not resell the Service, redistribute protected content without permission or copy or reverse engineer the app except where applicable law allows it. You may use the app's sharing and copying features for their intended purposes, subject to the rights of the relevant content owners.

For the iOS app, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also governs the app licence. These Terms govern the Rice service and do not replace your separate agreement with Apple or Google. Apple's licence applies to the iOS app only.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Rice unlawfully, infringe other people's rights, introduce malicious code, disrupt the Service, access other users' information, or bypass subscription and usage controls. Do not use automated access to overload the Service or extract protected catalogue content without permission.

8. Availability, changes and suspension

Rice may need updates, maintenance or changes to remain secure and work with supported devices and service providers. Temporary interruptions may occur. Where a change materially affects a paid service, we will provide the notice and remedies required by law.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach of these Terms, unlawful activity, fraud or a security threat. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve the issue. You may contact support to challenge a restriction.

If we discontinue a paid service, we will provide any notice, continued access or refund required by applicable law. Suspension or discontinuation does not remove your mandatory consumer rights.

9. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, disclosed and retained, and how you can exercise your privacy rights. App marketplaces and independent third-party services also have their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Responsibility and consumer rights

We will provide the Service with the care and skill required by applicable law. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every automated result will be accurate. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by your misuse of the Service or events outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. These Terms do not take away mandatory rights relating to digital services, conformity, refunds or other consumer protections.

11. Complaints and disputes

Contact [email protected] with complaints or questions so that we can try to resolve them. Applicable law determines the law and courts that govern a dispute. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from relying on mandatory protections or bringing a claim in a court available to you under the laws of your country of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Rice or legal requirements. The current version and effective date will be published on this page. For material changes, we will provide notice and obtain consent where required by law before the changes apply. Changes do not apply retroactively to an existing dispute.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
